Cha Wang Pu'er Sheng Cha
1,800 Year-old “King Tree” Raw Pu’er Tea
It exceeds human comprehension to imagine what it means to be nearly 1,800 years old. But when scientists measured the King Tree, seated royally at the peak of the Eternal Peace Ancient Tea Gardens, that is the age they approximated. This means that this tea tree is older than the United States, the UK, France, Spain and Italy combined. It has seen countless sunsets and sunrises, has bathed in the high mountain mists century after century, and has sat calmly as empires of men rose and fell.
Each spring, we harvest a very small amount of its new buds and craft it into Pu’er Sheng Cha. With roots reaching deep into the earth, the resulting tea expresses an unparalleled concentration of terroir: mineral-rich, deeply cooling, and charged with a powerful but steady Qi. Just as old vines in Burgundy or ancient olive trees in Crete produce wines and oils of unusual depth, so too does this ancient tea tree offer a complexity no young plantation can emulate.
